Evidence-based practice in massage therapy is used to provide effective therapeutic treatment by optimizing the decision-making process with the use of well designed research.
Evidence-based therapy integrates
1. clinical expertise utilizing critical-thinking skills to assess the patient’s personal, social, and clinical presentation to create customized outcomes and results for a patient.
2. research evidence clinical research assists in guiding clinical decisions and to provide safe care.
3. patient values factors influence decisions based on a patient’s unique goals and needs. Therapists needs to be able to hear the patient to develop an effective treatment plan while using clinical expertise to guide the therapeutic process.
